You Have A Right To Know The Facts About Abortion

Abortion is not just a simple medical procedure. For many women, it is a life changing event with significant physical, emotional, and spiritual consequences. Most women who struggle with past abortions say that they wish they had been told all the facts about abortion.1

Some women seek advice about abortion from relatives or friends who experienced an abortion themselves. Unfortunately some of these women may be suffering from PAS, otherwise known as Post-Abortion Syndrome ( see the Post Abortion Syndrome page for more information). Some may be in denial or in a justification stage of grief. Others may want you to commit the same act of abortion because it will make them feel better about their decision. They unwittingly make you a partner in their grief and regret. The old saying “misery loves company” can fit well in this situation. Some post-abortive women find a misguided comfort in promoting abortion because it may temporarily ease their feelings of guilt if  “everyone else” is choosing abortion too.

Complications of Abortion

“In medical practice, there are few surgical procedures given so little attention and so underrated in its potential hazards as abortion. It is a commonly held view that complications are inevitable.” - Abortionist Warren Hern 2

Short-Term Medical Risks of Abortion

Pelvic Infection (Sepsis)
Incomplete Abortion
Blood Clots in the Uterus
Heavy Bleeding (Hemorrhage)
Cut or Torn Cervix
Perforation of the Uterus Wall
Anesthesia-Related Complications
Long-Term Medical Risks of Abortion

Complications associated with an abortion may make it difficult to become pregnant in the future or carry a pregnancy to term.

Women who have a strong family history of breast cancer or who have clinical findings of breast disease should seek medical advice from their physician regardless of their decision to become pregnant or have an abortion.3
